- Congregations in the Indian Ocean transferred to the care of South East Africa
Zurich. A number of islands in the Indian Ocean that have up until now been served by the District Church of France will now be transferred to the care of the District Church of South East Africa. They include the islands of Mauritius, Mayotte, Rodrigues, La Réunion, and the Seychelles. Such was the agreement between District Apostles Jean-Luc Schneider and Johann R. Kitching.
The administrative and pastoral care of the New Apostolic congregations in the aforementioned islands will be transferred to their new District Church as of 1 November 2008. District Apostles Jean-Luc Schneider (France) and Johann R. Kitching (South Africa) agreed that the Republics of Mauritius and the Seychelles, as well as the islands of Mayotte, Rodrigues, and La Réunion, will in future be served by the District Church of South East Africa. Reasons for this include the islands’ geographical proximity to South Africa and greater ease of access from that country.
