- An Awesome Weekend in Saskatoon, Canada
Saskatoon. Chief Apostle Leber made an impressive visit to Saskatoon, Canada, during the weekend of October 4 and 5, 2008, where he held a Ministers’ and Wives’ Service on the Saturday, and conducted a Thanksgiving and Church Dedication Service on the Sunday in the Saskatoon Central church with seating for 175 in the main auditorium. He was accompanied by District Apostles Latorcai (Canada) and Andersen (Australia), and District Apostle Helpers Deppner (DR Congo), Hebeisen (Philippines), and Dzur, Sobottka and Woll (Canada).
A children’s choir holding sunflowers sang “count your blessings” as they welcomed the Chief Apostle before the Thanksgiving and Dedication Service which was transmitted to 90 locations throughout Canada with a total attendance of 5,130, including 503 in Saskatoon. The textword for the service came from Psalm 66: 5 – “Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men.” He also gave a very special and interesting word for the Church Dedication from 2 Chronicles 29: 5 – “… Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place.” Our Chief Apostle again showed himself as the “people’s Chief Apostle” by shaking hands and taking photos with everyone who attended the dinner following the divine service.
He also enjoyed a more intimate fellowship gathering at the home of Bishop Sturm on the Sunday evening, where he was presented with a music CD and NACADIAN t-shirt that Apostle Woll brought from the Hamilton District Youth.
