- Information evening in Uster Doctrinal changes transmitted around the world via satellite
Uster. The New Apostolic congregation in Uster (Switzerland) was the scene of an information evening that was transmitted to all New Apostolic congregations around the world via satellite. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, the principal clergyman of the New Apostolic Church, personally moderated the information evening.
Such an event has never before taken place within the New Apostolic Church: new definitions and specifications on previous doctrinal statements were imparted to congregations around the world by way of a presentation hosted by the leader of the international Church, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber. All ministers and the many teachers within each congregation were able to watch the presentation. Six hundred seventy-five congregations were connected in Europe alone, including congregations in Bulgaria, Greece, Ireland, Malta, Norway, Poland, and Turkey. In addition, video cassettes were produced in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish for congregations in Argentina, Asia, Australia, Brazil, the Congo, Zambia, South Africa, and Northamerica.
The object of this unusually costly transmission was to explain the Church's revised positions on Baptism as well as questions regarding the exclusiveness of the New Apostolic Church. Henceforward, all Baptisms properly performed in other Christian churches will be fully recognised. Thereby the New Apostolic Church has officially changed its previous position, according to which non-New Apostolic Baptisms needed to be certified by an apostle.
Read our articles on these subjects entitled "Henceforward all Trinitarian Baptisms will be fully recognised" and "Exclusive? Yes, but with no claim to absoluteness".
