- Visit of Chief Apostle Leber to Johannesburg and Nelspruit
Johannesburg. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber made his first visit as Chief Apostle to the New Apostolic district church of South East Africa from 12 to 16 July 2006. On this visit he was accompanied by the District Apostles Noel Barnes (NAC Cape), Michael Ehrich (Southern Germany), Leslie Latorcai (Canada), and District Apostle Helper Michael Deppner (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Chief Apostle Leber arrived in Johannesburg on 12 July 2006 and he soon participated in a schedule of various activities that was arranged for this special visit. On Thursday, 13 July 2006 he visited the Amazing Grace Children’s Home (Eikenhof). On this occasion the children and staff had the opportunity to meet the Chief Apostle. He made a tour of the facilities and thereafter enjoyed lunch with all those present.
That evening, Chief Apostle Leber held discussions with the Youth in the FNB Conference and Learning Centre. The discussions were televised to several congregations within the district. The Youth had the opportunity to ask the Chief Apostle various questions related to matters that affect the church.
On Friday, 14 July 2006 it was arranged for the Chief Apostle and the other guests to visit Maropeng. Situated near the Sterkfontein caves, Maropeng is a visual celebration and information centre explaining the scientific theory of human evolution.
The Sandton Convention Centre was the venue where the district leaders active in South Africa were introduced to the Chief Apostle. Also present were the bishops and apostles. At the same time the statistics and organizational structure of the South East Africa Apostle District were explained to him. The Chief Apostle also discussed some of the recent doctrinal changes and the district leaders were given an opportunity to ask questions regarding this.
On Saturday, 15 July 2006 Chief Apostle Leber travelled to Nelspruit by aeroplane. Having arrived, the Chief Apostle and all the District Apostles went on a short tour of the Mpumalanga region, enjoying the beautiful landscape of this region.
