Zurich. The New Apostolic Church’s European Youth Day 2009 will likely take place in Düsseldorf, Germany. The European District Apostles’ Meeting has appointed District Apostle Armin Brinkmann, president of the District Church of North Rhine-Westphalia, to make all the necessary preparations. Thus the Church has clearly made the decision to proceed with the organisation of this large event!
The district apostles also unanimously approved a number of further details. A special team will detail the overall concept of the weekend over the coming months. The preferred date for the event has been slated as the Ascension Day weekend 2009. It has already been decided that the European Youth Day will take place in Düsseldorf’s LTU-Arena. This location is ideally suited for a number of reasons: the LTU-Arena has the ideal size for this type of event, and the competence and experience of its staff with events of this magnitude are enormous. Some 50,000 participants from across Europe are expected at the Youth Day.
Further elements regarding the expected costs, the personal contribution of the participants, and aspects of the weekend’s contents were not yet determined. The special team was commissioned to develop an overall concept for the weekend and present it to the district apostles for a later decision.
We will continue to report on further developments.
