- On the 100th birthday of Chief Apostle Ernst Streckeisen
Zurich. Wednesday, 19 October 2005 marked the 100th birthday of Chief Apostle Ernst Streckeisen. To commemorate this event, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber conducted a divine service in Zurich.
Before the service, Chief Apostle Leber honoured his predecessor with a few words of remembrance at the gravesite and in the chapel of the Fluntern cemetery: "We incline our heads in gratitude before this man of God. May he also have joy in eternity knowing that the work still goes on! We live in the same longing that he exemplified, namely to receive the Lord and become worthy for the day of the Lord. That is and remains the goal of God's children!"
In the divine service that evening in the congregation of Zurich-Mattenhof, the chief apostle referred to Daniel 12:3. Chief Apostle Leber drew special attention to the unshakable faith of Chief Apostle Ernst Streckeisen, his humble attitude and level-headedness, his willingness to serve, and his purity of soul.
