- Doctrine and knowledge Belief in creation and the theory of evolution
Zurich. In discussions of this matter the two sides are often irreconcilably opposed to one another. One believes exclusively in God the Creator, and relegates the findings of natural science on evolution to the realm of heresy. For proponents of the other side, the Christian belief in creation is at best an entertaining story about the beginnings of humankind.
But belief in creation and the theory of evolution are not mutually exclusive! Each one merely addresses the material world in its own manner. So how do we describe the similarities and differences between belief in creation and the theory of evolution? How can we objectify a discussion on the subject?
An interesting article on the subject was published in the church magazine of the New Apostolic Church, "Our Family", issue 7/2005.
