- A new Apostle ordained for the Netherlands
Reinier van Markus is the name of the new Apostle for the Netherlands. He was ordained by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider on Sunday, 14 January 2024.
Bishop van Markus was entrusted with the Apostle ministry in his home congregation of Hoorn, where he also served as rector for several years. Reinier van Markus was born in 1974. He received his first ministry at the age of 25. He is married and has two children. He will work full-time for the Church from now on. In addition to the congregations in the Netherlands, he looks after the brothers and sisters in the region of Flanders in Belgium, in Suriname, in the Netherlands Antilles, and in Malta. He is supported by two Bishops.
Apostle van Markus succeeds Apostle Peter Klene, who retired in the same divine service. Peter Klene served as a minister for 40 years, including 16 years as an Apostle.
