- The framework for the divine service
For the first time, the Liturgy of the New Apostolic Church is available online. The complete prescription for divine service has now been published on the Church’s main website nak.org.
To date, the liturgy has been featured in four separate volumes drawn up between 2010 and 2020. The new edition now combines these volumes into a single publication, unifies the language, and adapts all prescriptions to the Catechism that has been published in the meantime and to the newly developed concept of ministry.
The liturgy book includes, for the first time, explanations on the sacrament of Holy Sealing and ordination through the Apostle ministry. Canon law aspects, which in any case are to be found in the Guide for Ministers, have been omitted. In addition to the online version, the liturgy book can also be downloaded in an illustrated PDF version.
The foreword states, “The New Apostolic divine service is characterised by its simplicity and focus on the sermon and the sacraments. However, this does not mean that the liturgical event as a whole is of a secondary nature.” Because: “The repeated components in the sequence of a divine service are intended, among other things, to demonstrate God’s consistent care to mankind. In this way, those who attend the divine service can feel secure in the unchanging faithfulness of God.”
