- Funeral service for District Apostle Mfune
The New Apostolic Church Zambia will bid a final farewell to District Apostle Duncan Burton Mfune, who passed away last week at the age of 88, with a funeral service this Wednesday.
Duncan Burton Mfune was born on 27 January 1937 in Livingstone in the then Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). Upon the invitation of a friend, he attended the services of the New Apostolic Church already as a boy. He was sealed at the age of 18.
Duncan B. Mfune was ordained a Sub-deacon in 1959, his first ministry. This ultimately led to his ordination as an Apostle in 1975. In 1987 he was assigned District Apostle Helper and in 1989 he was appointed District Apostle. He retired in 2005.
“His passion for the Church’s mission and focus on serving God and his fellow members were evident throughout,” the current District Apostle Kububa Soko writes in the obituary. He describes him as a brave servant of God and an iconic figure in the work of salvation.
“We gladly intercede for all relatives and the bereaved,” Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider writes in his letter to the Apostles around the world. “May the heavenly Father give them much comfort, strength, and confidence in these difficult hours of parting.”
