- The Chief Apostle offers his condolences on the passing of Pope Francis
The New Apostolic Church International has reacted with sorrow and sympathy to the death of Pope Francis. This was expressed by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider in a letter of condolence sent to the Vatican.
Pope Francis led the Roman Catholic Church with humility, clarity, and love. “His dedication to the poor, his message of mercy, and his commitment to peace, dialogue, and the protection of the creation have had an impact far beyond his own denomination,” the letter states.
“I also feel personally connected to his vision of a Church that does not shine with perfection, but is marked by real life,” the Chief Apostle wrote. He learned of the pontiff’s death while returning from Australia. For the period ahead, he wishes the Catholic Church “spiritual leadership, wise decisions, and the strength for renewal based on the spirit of the gospel”.
