The temple is not the building where brothers and sisters gather. The temple is a symbol of the church of Christ.
God is present in the church of Christ. It is His work, not the work of human beings. It is not the work of the Apostles, but the work of Jesus Christ. Sometimes people say, “Yes, but we have founded a church, we come together, we have made rules for ourselves, and we have determined a way of working. That is now the church.”
But the church of Christ is not the work of people who have simply decided to come together and pray as a group. It is not the church of the Apostles, nor the church of human beings. It is the church of Christ. It belongs to Him. He established it. Without Christ, there is no church!
For the church to come into existence, the Son of God came to earth, became human, sacrificed His life, and rose again. Without the incarnation of the Son of God, His death on the cross, and His resurrection, there would be no church. He created it.
He laid down the rules of the church. He determined its teaching. “That must be preached in My church.” Christ Himself has decided this. To attain eternal life, one must receive three sacraments: baptism with water, baptism with the Spirit, and Holy Communion. And so that the church might function, He sent His Apostles!
