- A historic Pentecost week begins
The New Apostolic Church is convening its international Pentecost assembly in Cape Town, South Africa, this week. This year’s focus is on the transition in the Church’s International leadership.
Participants have been arriving since Monday, 18 May 2026. Among those expected are the international Church leader, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, his designated successor, Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler, and the District Apostles and District Apostle Helpers from the Church’s fourteen administrative regions worldwide.
As the week progresses, divine services will be held in congregations across the region alongside meetings of international bodies. These include the Delegate Meeting of the New Apostolic Church International and the District Apostle Meeting. In addition to organisational matters, the agenda also includes ongoing doctrinal and content-related work.
The week will conclude with the Pentecost service on Sunday, 24 May 2026, in the Tafelsig congregation. The ordination of Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler as the new Chief Apostle is scheduled to take place during this service. The divine service will be broadcast to congregations around the world.
