- Growth brings a new Apostle Area
Reinforcements for Angola: José Vicente Luvamba and António José Diogo João have been ordained as Apostles and entrusted with the Malanje and Luanda districts.
In a divine service held in Luanda, Angola on 7 June 2026, Chief Apostle Helge Mutschler ordained Evangelist José Vicente Luvamba (1993) as an Apostle for the Malanje Apostle Area. Sealed in the year of his birth, he received his first ministry as a Deacon in 2009. He worked as an IT specialist and was self-employed. Apostle Luvamba is married and has three children. In addition to his native Portuguese, he also speaks Swahili and Lingala.
On the same day, Evangelist António José Diogo João (1980) was also ordained as an Apostle. He will serve in the Luanda district. Sealed in 1997, he was ordained a Priest three years later. He was head of a specialist forensic unit within the criminal investigation department. The Apostle is married and has three children. Besides Portuguese, he speaks Kikongo and has a working knowledge of English. The Church’s continued growth in the Greater Luanda Area has made restructuring necessary. The 322 current congregations, organised into 39 church districts, will be reorganised into three Apostle Areas instead of two.
