- Passing of retired District Apostle Alfons Tansahtikno
Zurich / Indonesia. On Sunday, 18 September 2016, the retired District Apostle Alfons Tansahtikno passed away at the age of 72, after enduring a long illness. From 1985 until his retirement on 18 January 2009, Alfons Tansahtikno had served as a District Apostle in Indonesia.
Alfons Tansahtikno was born on 25 January 1944 in Surabaya, Java, and was baptized in 1948. He received the sacrament of Holy Sealing in the same year through Apostle Gradus Faassen. In 1961 he was ordained to the Deacon ministry at the age of only sixteen. In 1968 he was ordained a Priest, and in 1976 he received the ministry of District Elder. Chief Apostle Hans Urwyler ordained him a Bishop in Stuttgart, Germany in the year 1982, and Chief Apostle Richard Fehr ordained him a District Apostle on 31 July 1985 in Bandung.
After he had reached the age limit for active service, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber retired him in Yogyakarta on 18 January 2009. Alfons Tansahtikno served as a minister of the New Apostolic Church for 48 years.
Alfons Tansahtikno was married to his wife Waty Tanusetia for 47 years, and their union produced four daughters and one son, who today serves as a Bishop in the District Church of South East Asia.
