- Historical Weekend for the Canada District
Kitchener. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber travelled to Canada on the weekend of November 20th and 21st, 2010, in order to retire District Apostle Leslie Latorcai as head of the Canada District and ordain a new District Apostle, namely the former District Apostle Helper Mark Woll. The service was conducted in the Kitchener Central church where nearly 1,300 members attended from the Tridistrict of Kitchener, Hamilton and Toronto. It was also transmitted to 71 other church locations throughout Canada.
On the previous day, Saturday, the Chief Apostle, together with the Apostles and Bishops and their wives, also attended a special Retirement Program and Concert at Hamilton Place commemorating the ministerial life of District Apostle Latorcai. Besides many beautiful musical renditions by the concert choir, a children’s choir, the seniors’ choir, an African members’ choir and the orchestra, there was a video (with greetings from Chief Apostle Fehr i.r. and several District Apostles) and a power point presentation with many interesting photos of District Apostle Latorcai’s ministerial activity over the years in many countries where he served, as well as live messages given by his son District Elder Andrew Latorcai, his three District Apostle Helpers Frank Dzur, John Sobottka and Mark Woll, and Chief Apostle Leber.
Chief Apostle Leber chose a text for the divine service from Ephesians 3: 19 - “…that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
