- District Apostle successor named in the District Church of Switzerland
Zurich. “On Sunday, 6 April 2008 our Chief Apostle will retire me in the presence of all District Apostles and District Apostle Helpers during a divine service in Zurich-Hottingen that will be transmitted by satellite.” Such were the opening words of a letter to the congregations which District Apostle Armin Studer, who leads the District Church of Switzerland, sent to the brethren in his care. In it he also revealed his successor.
“He will ordain Apostle Markus Fehlbaum to the District Apostle ministry as my successor,” the letter goes on to say. Markus Fehlbaum is 56 years of age. He speaks German, French, Italian, and Spanish. In October last year, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained him a Bishop. In today’s Sunday divine service in Wettingen he was ordained an Apostle. Paul Imhof and Jürg Zbinden were also ordained as Bishops (we reported).
For 10 years District Apostle Studer has been responsible for the pastoral and organisational care of the approximately 35,000 church members in Switzerland’s 230 congregations. Beyond that he has also coordinated the administrative efforts of the Church in Andorra, Bulgaria, Gibraltar, Italy, Croatia, Moldova, Austria, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Including all the countries and regions it serves, the District Church of Switzerland is responsible for some 57,000 members.
District Apostle Armin Studer will turn 66 in March 2008.
