- New Apostles ordained in Africa
Three Apostles for Zambia and two Apostles for South Africa were ordained in a divine service on 11 June in Solwezi, Zambia. Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, the international Church president, performed the ordinations.
In Zambia, where District Apostle Kububa Soko is responsible for the New Apostolic Christians, the Apostle Area of Senanga-Shongombo was divided. The newly created Apostle Area of Shongombo will be taken over by the newly ordained Apostle Nawa Linyango (born 1982). He works as a commercial secondary school teacher and has been a minister in the Church since 2000. He was ordained as a Bishop in 2018.
District Elder Graham Mafulo (1976) was ordained as an Apostle for the Kasempa-Kabombo area. He works in the health sector. He received his first ministry in 2002, at which time he was ordained a Priest. Since 2021 he had been serving as a district rector.
The Apostle Area of Mansa had to be divided because it was too large to be managed by one Apostle. Sakeni Mwelwa (1978) will be responsible for the newly created Apostle Area of Lubwe. He works in the field of education and teaches farmers how to manage diseases, among other things. He has been a minister since 2003. Last year, he was assigned as a district rector.
A new Apostle Area was also created in South Africa. The newly ordained Apostle for the Northern Cape is Fredericks Daniel Lekay (1970). Among other things, the assistant principal teaches Afrikaans and geography at a school in Lamberts Bay. Fredericks Daniel Lekay has been a minister since 1994. Most recently, he served as a district rector.
To relieve the workload of District Apostle Helper Peter Lambert, Evangelist Neville Williams (1969) was ordained as an Apostle for Cape Town. The accountant works for an investment holding company as head of internal audit. He received his first ministry in 1994. Only recently he was assigned as a district rector.
The five Apostles will work for the Church on a voluntary basis and will continue to exercise their professions.
