- District Apostle Karl Kühnle passed away
Zurich. On Sunday, 7 December 2003 at around 2:00 AM local time, the retired District Apostle Karl Kühnle passed away at the age of 80 after a short stay in hospital. When he spoke with the chief apostle by telephone as recently as Friday, his last words were: "Praise, thanks, Amen."
Chief Apostle Richard Fehr honoured the district apostle‘s many years of activity in Southern Germany in his letter of sympathy: "Again, another prominent personality of faith has completed his journey and after a blessed period of activity has been permitted to lay off his pilgrim‘s cloak and cross the threshold into the realm of the redeemed." With his Swabian sense of humour, continued the chief apostle, he often succeeded at opening closed hearts and creating a friendly atmosphere in difficult situations.
